I asked myself a series of questions:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Why are you over-weight?&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I do not eat the right types of food and I rarely exercise.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;How determined are you to lose weight?&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Very determined.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Are you willing for this to be a long term project, or are you looking for a quick fix?&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The quicker the better, however I realise that crash diets do not work and end up causing more harm than good.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Do you feel you have enough self-discipline to succeed?&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I am not sure but I will have to have, to reach my target weight.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The &lt;a href="http://fatloss4idiots.com/?hop=jsfllc"&gt;Weight loss&lt;/a&gt; plan&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;These are the things I must do:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Eat three healthy meals a day.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Exercise more. This will be achieved by leaving the car at home more often and by walking to certain places, such as my children's school. I will also take the children to play sports like football and tennis, as often as I can.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Fight the demons in my head who constantly tempt me into eating.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;These are the things I must not do:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Snack in between meals.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Eat too many take-aways, I will basically allow myself one a week.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Lie to other people or even myself about what I have eaten.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This sounds so simple and is very easy to follow. I have to admit that it is not that easy to carry off, especially not being able to snack between meals. My aim is to focus on one, probable cause; and then share one, dynamic solution.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Let's begin with a review of Anatomy 101. The colon. The colon is also known as the large intestine. It is a long, muscular tube, about six feet in length that orchestrates the digestive process. As you chew your food, your body releases enzymes that help with digestion. When your food reaches the stomach, the process continues and, the body's digestive juices break it down even more. After about an hour or so of this, the stomach deposits your food into the small intestine.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;After several hours of being in the small intestine, the undigested waste, is transported into the last section of the colon where it is eventually eliminated.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Most adolescents have little problems eliminating waste from the colon. This is because there is very little undigested waste sticking along the lining of the colon walls. However, the typical American diet is loaded in fats and enormous amounts of protein which have a propensity to deposit left behind, waste in the colon. As such, it's during your post-adolescent years that the interior of the colon walls gradually become smaller and smaller.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Imagine a pipe accumulating years of interior rust. This causes a narrowing of its original diameter. Well, this is pretty much what happens to your colon over time. That is why there may be more force required to eliminate fecal matter. Elimination is supposed to require little effort. However, because your colon's walls are lined with debris, you strain. "Straining" is indicative of a blocked colon.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;A blocked colon leaves food behind to rot in the digestive tract: Therefore, the final process of digestion is not completed. The debris then rots and candida albicans, bacteria and toxins take residence. Food which is undigested in the colon contributes to colon cancer. John Wayne, the world famous western actor, died from complications of colon cancer. It is said that he had more than 40 pounds of undigested food in his colon.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Mucoid plaque consists of the layers of mucous and rotting food which compact themselves year after year along the entire length of the digestive tract (Anderson). But here's the thing, this plaque forms in the intestine and continues to produce mucous as a normal response to the undigested food. Food is not supposed to just sit there and rot. Our body is designed to store three meals at any given time (Jensen), but most Americans are storing six to twelve! Mucous is not powerful enough to move the toxic, enzyme-free sludge left behind from fake, chemically-laced and high-processed foods such as, "wieners," "supreme burritos," and double orders of chili fries.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;However, as a natural defense mechanism, your body continues to produce more and more mucous. This causes the colon to grow in diameter and create the appearance of belly fat. So, if you are doing dozens of crunches and other "ab work" and can't seem to lose the belly fat, it's probable that you have undigested food rotting in your colon.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;In his book, &lt;I&gt;Cleanse and Purify,&lt;/I&gt; Dr. Richard Anderson documents what another medical doctor (who requested anonymity) shared at a seminar:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;I&gt;"I have spent twelve years working in the field of post-mortem diagnosis. It contains about 340 milligrams of potassium, 530 International Units of vitamin A and 70 milligrams of phosphorus.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The daily recommendation for women over age 20 for vitamin A is 4,000 International Units, and 800 milligrams of phosphorus. There are no recommendations for potassium. However, one cup of tomato juice has 535 milligrams of potassium, a cup of strawberries has about 250, a banana has 450 and a slice of honeydew has 350.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Zucchini is a good source of fiber with 4 grams per cup. Be sure to include the peel to get all the fiber. They have added food items to there product list. They now have snack bars to help you make it through the day. They have introduced an aggressive diet plan to help those who need to lose more than a few vanity pound. After reviewing there revised diet plan, I like the new plan much better. I have been fairly active all my life and the thought of going though a half a day on a souped up milk shake didn't set to well with me. Their new dieting philosophy appears to recognize that problem. The slim fast shake is not a stand alone meal any more although they call their shake a meal on the run. They also seem to be suggesting several small meals during the day. This several small meals concept has been around for quite some time and has gained acceptance with some dietitians. This is no longer a crash diet as I once thought Slim Fast was. Slim Fast has stood the test of time and it looks as though they are expanding. The test of time means they are still getting results. The exercise consisting of a 45 minute "fat burning zone" routine, 5 days a week for 12 weeks.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The abstract from this study states: Results indicate that moderate aerobic exercise training during a 12-week period has no discernible effects on body composition.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;i.e. fat burning zone workouts do nothing for losing body fat!!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;WOW!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Myth 4 - Calorie counters on machines are useful for fat loss...&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;We've all done it, waiting for the calorie counter on the treadmill or cross trainer to tick by 400 or 500 calories burnt during your workout. We can then feel all virtuous as we tuck into our post workout coffee and chocolate muffin, safe in the knowledge we have "earned" it.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Unfortunately, calories burned during your workouts are not significant when you want to lose fat!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Study no.4 compared endurance style workouts to higher intensity interval training where the number of total calories burned during the workout, was over twice as much for the endurance group than the intervals group.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;You would think that the endurance group would logically lose more fat given that they have burned more calories in total? However the intervals group lost NINE times more fat than the endurance group!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Those calorie counters on your exercise bike are really worthless, my advice, cover them up!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Myth 5 - Crunches will get rid of your belly fat!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;How many crunches do you do each day? 10, 20... maybe 50, 100... or maybe more?&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Any self respecting fitness professional will tell you that "spot reduction" doesn't work! If it did, all the people doing 100 crunches a day would be walking around with a perfect SIX PACK, but flabby butt and thighs! It just doesn't work like that!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;So quit wasting your time and effort on this ineffective exercise and have a go at doing some of the more effective methods instead...&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;THREE truly effective ways of getting rid of body fat&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;1. Drop the refined carbs from your diet. Eat more high quality proteins and unrefined carbs in the form of fresh fruit and vegetables. 2. Do some short, sharp and very effective interval workouts. 3. Get your trainer to show you some intensive ALL BODY resistance workouts, utilising large muscle groups as much as possible!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Each of these methods will achieve the necessary result of boosting your "basal metabolic rate", this is your 24/7 fat burning system in your body.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Utilise all 3 methods and fat will literally melt away!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;12 weeks is a relatively short time period in your lifetime, and this is all it took for Claire to drop over 5% in body fat, and drop 2 dress sizes utilising the same three methods of fat loss.
